However, upon paying attention to time-related keywords very specifically, I realized it only spans about a year, give or take perhaps a month or so. And there are several points in the books that do give an impression of lasting for quite a long time. I’ve spoken with numerous people over the years who got the impression that the entire thing spanned at least two years, perhaps more. Here instead we have a more macro view in which the main intent is to frame the overall in-universe duration of the Shadow and Bone trilogy. This is a project I began ages ago, but got bogged down in the details of wringing out day to day information and never finished the actual writeup.
